HVS Girls: Iida Heinonen won her 1st ITF J60 singles title
We are happy to congratulate HVS Girls player Iida Heinonen on her first ITF J60 singles title. Iida has been working tirelessly for the last couple of years and her hardworking has started to pay off. Earlier this year Iida reached final of J30 event in Finland and 3 semifinals in Bulgaria, Denmark and Latvia.
Iida is a good example to her peers on how she act on and off the court. While she went through couple of injuries, she never gave up. She showed up everyday to watch practices while going through rehab. We do believe this situation made her learn and hungry to strive for more.
Off the court, Iida gives so much compassion, empathy, humbleness and overall what a an athlete with a big heart should represent. She makes everyone feel part of the team, and regardless the level of training partner she gives her best effort and never complains.
She loves the game so much and it shows how she would rather be on the tennis court all day. If she had to sleep on the court, she would everyday. Sometimes we had to make her stop practicing because it’s never enough for her. She is a dreamer and someone that has a great future.
Many of those wouldn’t be possible without great support of her parents, tennis coaches Dominic, Danil and Boris, physio Erika (Teramus), clubs HVS and HLK and many more who was a part of her journey.
Way to go Iida!
